Hong Kong Typology by Emanuel Christ and Christoph Gantenbein
Important Buildings by Raphael Zuber
Radical Mix in Hanoi by Ulrich Kirchhoff (144 pp. each, gta/kaleidoscope, $25. each)

These three publications were produced in conjunction with the exhibition “Teaching Architecture: 3 Positions Made in Switzerland.” The catalogues to this traveling show aim to express different views on urban architecture from the three main architecture schools in Switzerland: the ETH Zurich, the Accademia di Architettura Mendrisio, and the EPFL in Lausanne. Designed by Ludovic Balland, they received an honourary appreciation at the 2010 Swiss Design Awards in the “Best Book Design from all over the World” category.

The first volume takes inventory of the various building types in Hong Kong and examines what would happen if the unique buildings of this dense metropolis were transported to Zurich.

The second presents 190 buildings, 57 with drawings, from 19 regions of the world, as selected by Professor Raphael Zuber and his students at the the Accademia di Architettura Mendrisio.

The last looks at typological transformations in Hanoi by presenting student designs for a high-density mixed use development containing commercial, recreational, office, residential, and parking spaces.
